W&L President Francis P. Gaines justifies the actions of students in blocking photographers and cameramen from taking pictures of Senator Alben W. Barclay after he fell, dead, during his keynote speech at the 1956 Democratic Mock Convention. The letter is addressed to representatives of two different organizations: The National Press Photographers Association, Inc. and Shenandoah Life Stations, Inc. (specifically, Roanoke 7, Virginia).
