Pseudopolyrotaxane formation, that is threading of rings onto a linear chain, was described by the hopping model modified to allow for cooperative interactions between adjacent rings and their asymmetry. In equilibrium, the model is equivalent to the model of cooperative binding to a one-dimensional array of fully accessible sites.
