The contribution of Vlastimil Kůdela to the "Handbook on Bipolar Membrane Technology" deals with methods for characterisation of bipolar membranes, namely Volt - Ampere characteristics and their interpretation as well as concen-tration potentials and their interpretation. The aim of bipolar membranes charac-terisation consists in the assessment of their ability to dissociate water in a DC electric field and to provide the system with H+ and OH- ions.
