Based on detailed taxonomic revision of predominantly larval material of the family Tricorythidae (Ephemeroptera) so far available from the Oriental Region, a new genus, Sparsorythus gen. n., is established to include 6 new species: S. bifurcatus sp. n. (larva, imago male and female), S. dongnai sp. n. (larva, imago male and female), S. gracilis sp. n. (larva), S. grandis sp. n. (larva), and S. ceylonicus sp. n. (larva), and S. multilabeculatus sp. n. (imago male), respective differential diagnoses are presented. S. jacobsoni (Ulmer, 1913) comb. n. is transferred from the genus Tricorythus, now supposed to cover only a part of Afrotropic species of this family. Further 5 species are described but left unnamed since the larval stage is still unknown.

Na základě detailní taxonomické revize dosud dostupného převážně larválního materiálu čeledi Tricorythidae (Ephemeroptera) z Orientalní oblasti je popsán nový rod, Sparsorythus gen. n., zahrnující 6 nových druhů: S. bifurcatus sp. n. (larva, imago samec a samice), S. dongnai sp. n. (larva, imago samec a samic), S. gracilis sp. n. (larva), S. grandis sp. n. (larva), S. ceylonicus sp. n. (larva) a S. multilabeculatus sp. n. (imago samec). Odpovídající diferenciální diagnózy jsou stanoveny, S. jacobsoni (Ulmer, 1913) comb. n. je převeden z rodu Tricorythus, o kterém se předpokládá, že v současnosti zahrnu jen část Afrotropických druhů čeledi.Dalších 5 druhů je popsáno bez formálního pojmenování, protože larvální stádia nejsou známa. Exochorionální struktury rodu (hexagonální pole s jedinou polární epithemou) jsou popsány poprvé a vztahy Sparsorythus gen. n. ke všem ostatním druhům čeledi jsou diskutovány.
