Der Aufsatz behandelt Platons Dialog Phaidon, besonders die einleitende Episode mit der Aesopischen Thematik und ihre Bedeutung für die Interpretation des ganzen Dialogs. Der Aufsatz zeigt, dass es eine weitgehende Parallele zwischen Aesop und Sokrates, den beiden Dienern des Apollon, gibt. Platon distanziert sich vom zeitgenössisch vorherrschenden religiösen Kult und deutet eine Weise an, wie man die eigentliche Nachfolge des Herrschers in Delphi angehen soll: nämlich in der Suche einer basalen menschlichen Verständigkeit (Phronesis) als notwendige Bedingung von allem, was in der menschlichen Welt "gut" ist. Diese Verständigkeit alleine ist es, die eine Überwindung des Todes ermöglicht, wohl nicht als posthume Existenz, sondern in der eigentlichen Lebensführung.

The article is concerned with Plato's dialogue Phaedo, in particular with the role of the framing Aesopian conversation for the interpretation of the dialogue. The article shows that there are deep parallels between Apollo's servants Aesop and Socrates. In this way, Plato expresses a distance from the official religious cult and suggests what should be the real following of the Delphic Ruler: the search for basic human understanding which is a condition of everything that is "good" in the human world and which is the only thing that makes the overcoming of death possible. The death is defeated by a good life here, not by life after death somewhere beyond.

Článek je věnován Platónovu dialogu Faidón, zejména úloze rámcového rozhovoru s esopskou tematikou pro celkový výklad dialogu. Ukazuje hlubokou paralelu mezi Apolónovými služebníky Esopem a Sókratem, kterou Platón vyjadřuje odstup od oficiálního kultu a naznačuje směr pravého následování delfského Vladaře: hledání bazální lidské rozumnosti, která je podmínkou všeho, co je v lidském světě "dobře" a která jediná umožňuje překonání smrti, ovšem životním postojem, nikoli záhrobní existencí.
