HDS of thiophene on Rh, Ru and Co promoted Mo/alumina catalysts was studied under addition of pyridine. The noble metal promoted catalysts were more tolerant than conventional catalyst. This was ascribed to their higher C-N bond hydrogenolysis, facilitating the removal of inhibitors by HDN and also to the higher intrinsic tolerances of the free Rh (Ru) sulfides in the bimetallic systems.
