Le catalogue qui fait objet de ce compte rendu, a été publié à l’occasion de l’exposition temporaire, organisée au Musée des commencements de l’Etat de Pologne à Gnieźno. La publication est divisée en deux parties. La première est consacrée aux questions théoriques et aux problèmes historiques relatifs aux lettres médiévales en Pologne. La majeure partie de la publication est réservée aux descriptions des objets exposés. De telle façon, la publication constitue un apport intéressant à la connaissance de la culture littérale médiévale sur le territoire de la Pologne.

O sztuce pisania w średniowiecznej Polsce. Katalog wystawy. Gnieźno, 2008) Catalogue, a subject of the review, was issued at the occasion of the exposition with the same title. It was realised in the Museum of the Origins of the Polish State in Gniezno. The publication is divided into two parts. The first one is devoted to theoretical issues and historical problems connected with medieval letters in Poland. The following parts (about two thirds of the publication) are devoted to the respective catalogue description of exposed showpieces. The exhibits cover period from the end of the 8th century to the beginning of the 16th century; as regards contents the texts are biblical, liturgical, hagiographical, historical, legal, etc. The publication is thus very beneficial contribution documenting medieval written culture in Poland.
