Vladimír Vand (1911-1968) v letech 1946-1949 zkonstruoval dva samočinné mechanické počítače pro stanovení struktury z dat získaných pomocí difrakce paprsků X. S Francisem Crickem spolupracoval na výzkumu struktury šroubovicových molekul s využitím Fourierovy transformace.

Vladimír Vand (1911-1968) in 1946-1949 constructed two mechanical calculating machines for establishing the structure of molecules from X-ray difraction data. He cooperated with Francis Crick on the structure of helix molecules by means of the Fourier transform.
