Increased production of the virulent factors was found in the fur mutant strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa FPA12 and FF13 even under conditions of their full repression by FeIII. The mutants overproduce specific receptors for pyoverdine (FpvA) and pyochelin (FptA) in iron-deplete medium. Upon FeIII supplementation into the medium (60µM FeCl3) the Fur phenotype of fur mutants was studied. Transcription profiling of the fur mutant strain FPA12 in response of iron was performed with focus on the expression of Fur-regulated genes coding for virulence factors
