Studie se soustřeďuje na analýzy distinktivních rysů mezi modernou a avantgardou. Zatímco pro estetickou modernu je určující princip estetické autonomie, avantgarda tento princip napadá jako diskurzivní konstrukt měšťanské společnosti. V závěru se studie zamýšlí nad možnou aktuálností avantgardy.

This study analyses the distinctive features shared by modernism and the avant-garde. While the defining principle of aesthetic modernism is aesthetic autonomy, the avant-garde attacks this principle as a discourse construct of bourgeois society. The study concludes with a consideration of the possible topicality of the avant-garde.
