Reprezentativní publikace představuje vývoj detašovaného pracoviště Archeologického ústavu AV ČR, Brno v Mikulčicích od původní terénní expedice na „Valech“ po vědecké pracoviště mezinárodního dosahu na „Trapíkově“. Tento vývoj je dokumentován v širších urbanisticko-architektonických souvislostech mikulčického památkového areálu. Publikace je příspěvkem k historii bádání v oboru archeologie, současně je uměnovědnou publikací moderní architektury a památkově orientovaného urbanismu. Hlavní pozornost publikace se zaměřuje na novostavbu v poloze Mikulčice-„Trapíkov“ – na předstihový archeologický výzkum, architektonickou podobu a funkci nového objektu. Kniha je vybavena bohatou obrazovou, zejména fotografickou dokumentací.

This prestigious publication presents the development of the detached workplace of the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Brno, in Mikulčice from the original field expedition at “Valy” to the scientific workplace of the international renown at “Trapíkov”. This development is documented in the broader architectural-town context of the Mikulčice heritage complex. The publication is a contribution to the history of the archaeological research, as well as an art-history publication on modern architecture and heritage-oriented architectural-town planning. The publication focuses on the new building at Mikulčice-”Trapíkov” – on the history and importance of the site, but it is primarily devoted to the architecture and function of the new building. The book is lavishly illustrated, particularly with the photographic documentation.
