The present text describes the contents of TAŤÁNA VYKYPĚLOVÁ’s book Wege zum Neutschechischen: Studien zur Geschichte der tschechischen Schriftsprache (Hamburg, Dr. Kovač 2013 [Studien zur Slavistik, 32]) and deliberates its place in the contemporary research in the field of early modern Czech. At the same time, the volume of proceedings of the 5th „Bohemicum Dresdense“ conference is reviewed in which Taťána Vykypělová’s attempt to put an alternative model of the Czech language’s historical periods had been published for the first time (Tschechisch bis 1775 — historische Kontinuität oder Geschichte mit Sollbruchstellen?: Beiträge zum 5. Bohemicum Dresdense 12. November 2010, [Hrsg.] CLAUDIA WOLDT, München — Berlin — Washington D. C., Verlag Otto Sagner 2012 [Specimina philologiae Slavicae, 169]). The book Wege zum Neutschechischen seems to us to be an important part of the new approach to discussing the Czech language of the 16th–18th century. Its main novum is the use of the concept of „Konfessionalisierung“ in the studies on the 16th century Czech.
