The author examines factors influencing community satisfaction in small rural communities of the Czech Republic. He focused his research on the effect contextual characteristics of communities have on satisfaction in a Central European country. The analysis shows that while the subjective evaluations of community characteristics are a very good predictor of community satisfaction, their relationship to objective community characteristics is unclear.
