Oblast Mělnicka pokrývá zdánlivě okrajová koncentrace plochých kostrových pohřebišť 4.-3. stol. př. Kr. v Čechách, ale díky recentnímu výzkumu v areálu pískoven v okolí obce Vliněvsi lze vyhodnocením nově získaného nálezového fondu, spolu s vyhodnocením místních nálezů z 1. poloviny 20. století, sledovat i zde proces formování a vývoje fenoménu plochých kostrových pohřebišť, platný nesporně i pro jejich ostatní regionální skupiny v Čechách. Názorně se zde projevuje vazba české oblasti na západolaténskou oblast v průběhu 4. století př. Kr. a změna této orientace v průběhu 3. stol. př. Kr. směrem na oblast Podunají. Mimoto katastr Vliněvsi a jeho bezprostředního okolí vykazuje unikátní potenciál pro budoucí vyhodnocení vývoje pohřební komponenty prakticky celého laténu, především časně laténského období.

The Mělník area in Bohemia seemingly has a marginal concentration of flat-grave inhumation cemeteries from the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. However, a recent excavation in the sandpits near the community of Vliněves and the evaluation of the newly acquired finds along with an evaluation of local finds from the first half of the twentieth century have made it possible to contribute to the study of the formation and development of the phenomenon of flat-grave inhumation cemeteries - a process that is undoubtedly also valid for the other regional groups of the La Tène cemeteries in Bohemia. The new information indicates ties between Bohemia and the western La Tène territory during the course of the fourth century BC and a change in this orientation in the third century BC toward the Danube region. Moreover, Vliněves and its immediate surrounding area have unique potential for a future evaluation of the development of the burial component of virtually the entire La Tène, especially the Early La Tène period.
