Kapitola se zabývá otázkou měnících se podmínek k migracím a k měnícím se profilům migrantů. Klade si za cíl ukázat, že migrace se za posledních dvacet, dvacet pět let radikálně změnily, a to nejen s ohledem na prostupnost vnitřních hranic na evropském kontinentu, ale i s ohledem na dopravní a komunikační možnosti migrujících osob. Komunikační technologie, dopravní možnosti, elektronické bankovnictví a další současné vymoženosti proměnily charakter překážek v migraci i významy, které přemisťování se přináší. Změnily též počty osob, jež se vydávají na cesty i množství kontaktů s migrujícími osobami. Kapitola dává k dispozici teoretické reflexe těchto přeměn a uvažuje i o důsledcích, které tato zvýšená mobilita přináší.

This chapter deals with the question of the changing conditions for migration and the changing profiles of migrants. It aims to show that migration has dramatically changed over the last twenty to twenty-five years, not only with respect to the permeability of the internal borders of the European continent, but also with regard to the transport and communication facilities of migrants. Communication technologies, transport possibilities, electronic banking and other contemporary achievements have changed the nature of barriers in migration and changed the meanings brought by relocation. What has also changed is the number of people who set out on a journey and the number of contacts with migrants. The chapter offers theoretical reflections on these changes and contemplates the consequences resulting from this increased mobility.
