Kapitola se věnuje měření a zkoumání migrace. Kapitola by měla ukázat, čím se migrační teoretici zabývali a k jakým výsledkům došli. Měla by též naznačit, jaká témata jim unikají. Kapitola též ukazuje, že v teoretickém myšlení o migracích jsou velké rezervy. Přestože nástrojů na měření migrací přibývá, jejich vytváření je prozatím opřeno o dílčí znalosti. Kapitola o měření migrací ukazuje, že každá specifická migrační kauza druhé poloviny 20. století generuje vlastní teoretické konstrukce, které relativně málo reflektují ty předchozí.

The chapter is devoted to measuring and examining migration in humanities social sciences. It shows what migration theorists have dealt with and what results they came to. It also indicates what topics escaped their attention and shows us that the theoretical thinking about migration still has great room for improvement. Although the number of tools for measuring migration is increasing, their creation is so far supported only by partial knowledge. The chapter on measuring migration suggests that every specific migratory case of the late 20th century generates its own theoretical constructs, which reflect its predecessors relatively little.
