Der Artikel analysiert die Ikonographie von Karl IV., ursprünglich im Südturm des Stephansdoms, jetzt im Historischen Museum in Wien. Es geht um die Frage, warum die Kaisersymbole auf dem kaiserlichen Krone - Bogen und Kreuz - entfernt wurden. Der wahrscheinlichste Grund scheint Zweifel an der Echtheit dieser Symbole zu sein.

The paper analyses the iconography of Charles IV, orginally in the southern tower of the cathedral of St. Stephen in Vienna, now in the Historisches Museum in Vienna. It tackles the question, why the emperor symbols on the imperial crone – arch and cross – were removed. The most probable reason seems to be doubts about the authenticity of these symbols.
