Le parcours de Bruno dans L’Enfant qui va de l'engagement dans l'écrasante responsabilité de l'existence qui vire en destin vers le dégagement du temps infini de la paternité non biologique est décidément un parcours à la fois antiheideggerien et levinassien : il ne s'agit pas pour lui de se complaire dans la culpabilité originaire de celui qui, dans la déréliction, est toujours déjà dans l'impossibilité de choisir les possibles qu'il a sacrifiés à un moment donné, mais d'être, dans la fécondité, autre tout en étant soi-même, dans un temps pluralisé qui va au-delà du possible.

In this paper, the movie L’Enfant by the Dardenne brothers (2005) is presented from a levinasian perspective. We argue that Bruno, the protagonist, is going through a transformation which goes from the engagement in the responsibility of existence to the disengagement from the weight of existence in the infinite time of fecundity. In various scenes of the movie we show that Bruno's story is an exemplification of the levinasian concepts of fecundity and paternity. While learning paternity, Bruno becomes a fecund being in a levinasian (ontological) sense.
