Potřeba mít plán na stáří roste analogicky s tím, jak přibývá seniorů a lidí, kteří se úctyhodného věku dožívají. Cílem příspěvku je zjistit, jaké jsou vlastně očekávání od stáří a jaká je role starého člověka ve společnosti, a to pohledem seniorů samotných. Zeptali jsme se 167 žen a mužů ve věku 65-80 let na to, jak si myslí, že by měli žít ve svém věku, jak by se měli chovat a co se od nich očekává, že by ve společnosti měli dělat. Rozhovor byl založen na McAdamsově Life story interview. Výsledky budou diskutovány s ohledem na teorii generativity a integrity ega.

As people continue to live longer lives, the need to have a plan for old age becomes of greater concern. The purpose of this study was to investigate how aged people themselves view their role in society and what they perceive is expected from them in old age. We asked our participants (65-80) what they think they should live their lives and how they should behave in society and to others in their age. Participants consisted of 167 men and women. An interview guide was designed based on the McAdams´ Life story interview. Results indicate awareness to changes of roles and expectations towards elders in the society and would be discussed on theory guided dimensions such as generativity and ego integrity.
