The thesis that logic is a science is not too controversial – logic seems to be so close to mathematics that that its allegiance to science seems to be obvious. In this paper I argue that though logic is a science (or something close to science), it is not because it would be akin to mathematics, that it is much closer to a natural science like physics, for just like physics it accounts for some part of reality (in case of logic it is the rules of reasoning as an ongoing human activity) largely in terms of mathematical models. In the paper I consider some recent proposal for seeing logic as a theory of reasoning (T. Williamson, G. Russell) and I try to amend what I see as their shortcomings.
