Die vielen hundert Briefe im Nachlass Otokar Fischers, die ihn als Kollegen, Verwandten, ehemaligen Mitschüler und Freund aus Kinderjahren zeigen, erlauben nicht nur Einblick in das weit gespannte und dicht gewebte Netz seiner gesellschaftlichen Kontakte, sondern, so viel ist gewiss, auch eine Rekonstruktion seiner Standpunkte und Anschauungen. Doch damit nicht genug. Die Korrespondenz als ganz eigene Form des Dialogs, bildet diese Anschauungen nicht nur ab, sie formt sie oft auch erst aus.

The hundreds of letters in Otokar Fischer's papers show him as a colleague, relative, former classmate and childhood friend. They not only allow an insight into the wide and tightly woven network of his social contacts, but also a reconstruction of his viewpoints and beliefs. But that's not all. Correspondence as a very unique form of dialogue not only depicts these views, it often forms them in the first place.
