Building energy renovation of the existing school buildings is one of the actual issues involving the Italian public building stock. The present work investigates the most promising cost-effective renovation strategies for different school buildings of the Lecco (Italy) municipality. The method of work is based, on the one hand, on the analysis and systematization of the actual conditions for 38 school buildings and, on the other hand, on the choice of “clusters”, representative of the typologies of the analyzed buildings from which derive the impact of different renovation strategies. The results are in form of replicable guidelines, useful for the administrator in programming large-scale building renovation and in obtaining the necessary founding

Abstract
