The essay considers the first negative reactions to the attributions to Leonardo of the Budapest bronze horse and rider made by P.Meller at the beginning of XX century, and the following different opinions of scholars during the XX Century. From that, and from the exhamination of the style of the sculpture, derives the convinction that the bronze could not be an autograph work by Leonardo, but a derivation from his drawings made in the first half of XVI century, probably by Giovan Francesco Rustici.

Abstract
The essay considers the first negative reactions to the attributions to Leonardo of the Budapest bronze horse and rider made by P.Meller at the beginning of XX century, and the following different opinions of scholars during the XX Century. From that, and from the exhamination of the style of the sculpture, derives the convinction that the bronze could not be an autograph work by Leonardo, but a derivation from his drawings made in the first half of XVI century, probably by Giovan Francesco Rustici.File in questo prodotto:
