Design and Translation have a lot of affinities on multiple levels: not only for their conceptual foundations, values and principles but also and in particular in terms of processes of cultural transfer. The same evolution of the meanings associated with the word translation, confirms the fact that this activity can be central in disciplines that go beyond the concept of translation in its literal sense (transposition of a text from a natural language to another). We would like to assert here, that translation is very close to the cultural, communicative, dialogic and creative dimension of the design discipline in all its articulations.

Abstract

Design and Translation have a lot of affinities on multiple levels: not only for their conceptual foundations, values and principles but also and in particular in terms of processes of cultural transfer. The same evolution of the meanings associated with the word translation, confirms the fact that this activity can be central in disciplines that go beyond the concept of translation in its literal sense (transposition of a text from a natural language to another). We would like to assert here, that translation is very close to the cultural, communicative, dialogic and creative dimension of the design discipline in all its articulations.
