Abstract

In this study we show the results obtained by co-culturing fibroblasts and skeletal muscle cells on micro-engineered hydrogels subjected to piezoelectric nanoparticle-mediated physical stimuli. Results suggest that these materials can be used for developing bio-hybrid devices, by synergistically combining tissue engineering and micro-mechatronics.
