Abstract
In 1902 Italy, along with United Kingdom and Germany, participated in a naval blockade of the Venezuelan harbours, as the Caribbean country, ruled by the dictator Cipriano Castro, refused to reimburse the foreigners damaged during the civil wars. Italy acted in condition of isolation, since her participation was not appreciated by the other countries, and had a secondary position in all the dispute. The outcome of the initiative was negative and the diplomatic relations with Venezuela were compromised for some years. The intervention, however, did not prevent the two countries to retake a close connection in later decades.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
