Migración venezolana a ColombiaResumen
Abstract
Since 2014, the difficult living conditions in Venezuela have caused a migration of its inhabitants to Colombia. According to official data, the number of Venezuelan migrants in Colombia during the first semester of 2018 was 865,005 between regular and irregular, an increase of 108% with respect to the total registered in 2017. The Venezuelan population that has migrated to Colombia is characterized by being on average younger than the Colombian one and presents higher participation rates in the labor market. Although it is true that migration can generate pressures on the labor market, the literature suggests that these impacts are usually marginal and, on the contrary, positive impacts can occur.
