The Open Universities for the Third Age (UNATI) provides the construction of a bonding fabric that unites the elderly, teachers and the institution that hosts the program. In this way, these links cause questions that instigate qualitative academic research in order to understand how these UNATI links are. Thus, the objective of this essay is to identify the specificities of the links established by professors with their elderly students at UNATI from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), campus of Assis. To this end, through the perspective of teachers/workers was sought: to explore the senses and meanings attributed to the link with the elderly at UNATI; to identify the difficulties faced in bonding with the elderly; to investigate the link between teachers and the institution. To achieve this goal, five semi-structured interviews were conducted using the digital platform Google Meet, which were transcribed. The interviews were crossed by the SARS-Cov-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2) pandemic, which changed the way UNATI works. Due to this, the dissertation focuses on experiences before pandemic, when there were weekly meetings between teachers and students. Bardin's “Content Analysis” was used, which consists of three steps: pre-analysis; exploration of the material; treatment of results, inference and interpretation. The material was analyzed in accordance with the theories of Linking Psychoanalysis, with the contribution of authors such as Kaës, Puget, Berenstein and with discussions on initiatives directed to old age that gave rise to UNATI in Brazil and in the world. Therefore, six categories were listed from the interviews: a) how is the link between teachers/workers and the institution, and the interaction between members of the administration and coordination; b) the specificities of the link formed between teachers and students in the daily life of classes/workshops; c) the influence of previous links with the elderly; d) the conflicts arising from the encounter between singular individual; e) the group as a space for elaboration; f) the identification processes. It is concluded that the teacher builds a fabric to link with their students beyond the initial teaching and learning proposal. It is an affective bond of sharing, where teachers/workers also learn, forming a space for co-learning and co-thinking
