Resumo
O objetivo do presente trabalho é analisar o viés ideológico de análises sobre cognição animal e suas implicações éticas. Em primeiro lugar, investigaremos como a tese de predominância da espécie humana em relação ao restante dos animais se funda em uma suposta superioridade cognitiva, que não se daria em termos de grau, mas de diferença de natureza. Em segundo lugar, investigaremos como essa tese se constrói culturalmente, infiltrando-se, inclusive, na produção científica, separando a espécie humana dos animais não humanos, sendo as éticas antropocêntricas excludentes derivadas dessa construção. Buscamos neste trabalho novas perspectivas sobre cognição que possam levar a uma visão ética mais inclusivas, ressaltando que o antropocentrismo ético excludente tem, principalmente o propósito de camuflar interesses de dominação. Por fim, através da perspectiva de intersecções entre opressões, procuraremos mostrar que o discurso construído para legitimar a exploração de animais não humanos está relacionado à estruturação de mecanismos de opressão de seres humanos por outros seres humanos, sendo que ressaltaremos que a ideologia que se constrói ao redor de práticas de violência tem o propósito de banalizá-las e invisibilizá-las.
The main objective of the present work is to analyze the ideological bias of studies on animal cognition and its ethical implications. First, we will investigate how the thesis of the predominance of the human species in relation to the rest of the animals is based on a supposed cognitive superiority, which would not occur in terms of degree, but of difference in nature. Second, we will investigate how this thesis is culturally constructed, even infiltrating scientific practices, separating the human species from non-human animals, adopting an excluding anthropocentric ethics derived from this cultural construction. In this work, we seek new perspectives on cognition that can lead to a more inclusive ethical vision, emphasizing that excluding ethical anthropocentrism has, mainly, the purpose of camouflaging strategies of domination. Finally, through the perspective of intersections between oppressions, we will try to show that the discourse constructed to legitimize the exploitation of non-human animals is related to mechanisms of oppression of human beings by other human beings, and we will emphasize that the ideology that is constructed around practices of violence has the purpose of trivializing them and making them invisible.
