This chapter focuses on equity concerns at the urban level. The first part of the chapter explores the idea of ‘just city’, which is enshrined in both planning and economic literature. The second part of the chapter attempts to bridge the gap between the urban economics and inequality measurement literature. Starting from the premise that these two fields of economics share a multidimensional view of quality of life, an innovative methodology is proposed to assess urban quality of life when equity concerns arise.

Abstract
