The work analyses how the general criteria for jurisdiction implemented by the Regulation 44/2001 can be applied in the specific sector of marine insurance contracts, examining the difficulty resulting from the absence of specific criteria which take into consideration the special character of marine insurance and, in general, criticising the only limited possibility consented by the Regulation to use derogate from such general criteria.

Abstract
