Il genotipo multilocus individuale (GMI) applicato allo studio della variabilità genetica della razza bovina Frisona

The research was carried out on 69 Holstein Friesian cows by testing the polymorphism of 20 DNA microsatellites. The statistical analysis, completed only to estimate the polymorphism and the Hardy-Weinberg proportions, highlighted that this breed has a lower genetic variability than the Italian white beef breeds, due to the higher selection level of the Holstein Friesian breed. A second important consideration: each microsatellite has a different meaning. In relation to the polymorphism or to the respect for the H.W. proportions they may be useful for specific research objectives: 1) the identification of the breed of an animal or of a phenotypically unidentified biological tissue (e.g. meat, etc.); 2) the individuation of the selective level and of QTLs.
