In this article 33 labels or bullae are published which are kept at the British Museum in London; they refer to livestock, namely sheep and goats. These bullae, also called “animal tags”, are not dated or sealed, so they can only be dated generically to the Old Babylonian period. In order to better understand the bullae here published, they are compared with similar ones already published elsewhere; like those, they record each animal as belonging to a certain shepherd. One of the most recurring names is Rībam-ilī, which also occurs in the many animal tags already published. The fact that the names recorded here, as well as in all animal tags, occur also in texts coming from Sippar (either Amnanum and Yahrurum), along with other elements, suggests the same provenience for our bullae.
