The developments of a research stream finalised to build up an integrated methodology to evaluate the feasibility conditions for the generalised application of integrated fixed interval timetables to extended railway networks are explained. A considerable step towards a full integrated methodology is the analysis of the constraints given by the topology of the infrastructure and the technological level of interlocking and signalling systems. The research has been concentrated to define a methodology capable to assess quantitatively the effects of the constraints above, in terms of frequency limitation for integrated fixed interval timetable services.

Abstract
