Abstract

In most human societies , to varying degrees , have practiced or discrimination is practiced against women . As it is a characteristic of religious cultures in the past that seek guidance or rules on how to live in the modern world , we must stress that almost all cultures have elaborate structures of socialization , rituals, marriage customs , and cultural practices , which aim to control the woman's body . If the primary objective is to put sexuality and the reproductive potential of women under the control of men because of the uncertainty of paternity and the need for protection of the race , relegating the woman in a private environment , domestic, formed a protection the stability of the family. Although it has been considerably mitigated in the most progressive and reformed versions of religions , this approach against women remains strong in the more orthodox or fundamentalist versions . In fact, it is an approach that is not limited to particularly backward cultures , but it is their own cultures of eastern and western ones. It is important to note , generally , as the status of women in different societies is largely determined by the characteristics and the tasks that the man decides that the woman should have. If the Muslim world is the separation between public and private that determines the role of women in the West is that the essential difference between being and appearance , between intelligence and beauty. In the case of Western women , in fact, the ability of emancipation are paralyzed by more codes than by physical space limitations .
