Using the tools of discourse analysis, two areas of knowledge-management within a large, North American multinational group specializing in organizational consulting are compared and contrasted. Two parallel sub-corpora are used, a series of internal corporate strategic planning presentations to all ranks of the company in webcast mode, and a set of “webinars” designed for the internal training and development of employees. The research focus is a comparison of the discursive processes at work, and the role of linguistic resources, in particular, in the two sets of information transmission and learning experiences, and the rhetorical role of re-mediation in the re-scripting of information.
