Il sistema fortificato di fine Ottocento predisposto nell'Alto Veneto a presidio del collegamento Feltre-Valsugana

Near the village of Primolano in Valsugana, an efficient system of fortifications was built to protect the road which, still today, in a series of hairpin bends, climbs the northern flank of the valley towards Feltre. The building work was carried out in the 1880s, after the annexation of the Veneto to the Kingdom of Italy, as part of the defences of the new Italian boundaries. The fortifications, which were never attacked in battle, were partially damaged by the Italian army during its retreat after Caporetto (1917), and have been left abandoned until now. In spite of this, many of them are in moderately good condition, to the extent that they provide information on the kinds of planning criteria used for defence at the time they were built, and are suited to the natural surroundings, allowing us to evaluate their potential for different exploitation in the future.
