This paper focuses on 12 letters by Nilus Ancyranus (CPG 6043) and aims to prove that they are a forgery constructed by cutting and pasting the third homily De Davide et Saule of John Chrysostom (CPG 4412) into a new text. On the one hand the letters represent one of the first witnesses of the homilies by John Chrysostom, and on the other they confirm that the Correspondence transmitted under the name of Nilus is a later and historically unreliable compilation.

Abstract
This paper focuses on 12 letters by Nilus Ancyranus (CPG 6043) and aims to prove that they are a forgery constructed by cutting and pasting the third homily De Davide et Saule of John Chrysostom (CPG 4412) into a new text. On the one hand the letters represent one of the first witnesses of the homilies by John Chrysostom, and on the other they confirm that the Correspondence transmitted under the name of Nilus is a later and historically unreliable compilation.File in questo prodotto:
