This article aims to compare some devotional elements and titles attributed to the Virgin Mary by learned cultural environment, taken into consideration by Carlo Maria Ossola (Viaggio a Maria, Salerno Editore, Roma 2016), with various expressions and denominations arising from “popular culture”. The further aim will be to analyze how the mistery of the Mother of Christ was considered and understood, by taking into account different but not antithetical categories, languages and cultural traditions.
