Abstract: The purpose of this report is to present the results of an investigation at Fort Polk Army Airfield (FPAA) in March 1971. The inspection was limited to visual observations and no tests were conducted on the existing runways and taxiways at that time. In June 1971, the U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES) performed tests at six locations in connection with a research study in which vibratory equipment and small auger holes were studied as a means of performing evaluation tests. Results of these tests are shown in table 1. A layout of the airfield pavements showing the locations of the auger holes is shown in plate 1.
