Devlet Su İşleri (DSİ), 1953 yılında kurulan ve 1954 yılında teşkilatlanan Türkiye’nin su idaresini yöneten kurumdur. 1953 yılından 2020 yılına kadarki süreçte birçok iktidar yönetimiyle çeşitli projelere imza atan DSİ, halkın refahını arttırmış ve küresel değişime ayak uydurmaya çalışmıştır. İklim krizi sebebiyle Türkiye’ye düşen yağışlardaki dengesizliğin temel rol oynadığı sel felaketleri ve kuraklıkları dengelemek için DSİ’nin farklı alanlarda yürüttüğü çalışmalar sayesinde suyun verimli kullanımı sağlanmıştır. DSİ, Türkiye’de pek çok baraj ve suyu ilgilendiren altyapı çalışmaları yürütmüştür. Ayrıca altyapı çalışmalarının sonucunda halka ve çevreye gelebilecek zararları engelleme amacı olan yan faaliyetlerde bulunmuştur. Bu makalenin ana amacı hayata geçirdikleri projelerle insanlığın hayati ihtiyaçlarından biri olan olan temiz suyun dağıtımını sağlayan DSİ’nin Türkiye tarihi içindeki gelişim sürecini incelemektir.

Devlet Su İşleri (DSI) is the institution that manages the water administration of Turkey, which was established in 1953 and organized in 1954. DSI, carried out various projects under the administration of many governments from 1953 to 2020, increased the welfare of the people, and tried to keep up with the global change. Efficient use of water has been ensured thanks to the works carried out by DSI in different areas to balance the floods and droughts, in which the imbalance in precipitation falls on Turkey due to the climate crisis. DSI has carried out many dams and infrastructure works. In addition, as a result of infrastructure works, it has been involved in side activities that aim to prevent damage to the public and the environment. The main purpose of this article is to examine the development process of DSI, which provides the distribution of clean water, which is one of the vital needs of humanity, in the history of Turkey, with the projects they have implemented.
