Kurtuluş savaşı sonrası yangınlar yüzünden bütün yeşilliğini kaybetmiş olan Manisa bölgesinin tekrar ağaçlandırılması sürecinde önemli bir rol oynayan Ahmet Bedevi, zaman içerisinde alışıla gelmişin dışında bir hayat biçimi benimseyerek Manisa Tarzanı lakabını almıştır. Şort dışında bir şey giymemesi, dağlarda yaşaması ve ağaçlara olan sonsuz sevgisi sayesinde halk arasında bir efsane haline gelen Manisa Tarzanı, tabiatı korumanın önemini çok erken bir vakitte fark etmiştir. Çevrecilik kavramının önemi fark edilmeye başlanmadan önce ağaçlandırma ve çevreyi korumayı benimseyen Tarzan, Türkiye’nin ilk çevrecisi olmuştur. Bu araştırmada, Tarzan’ın tuhaf yaşamı anlatılmış ve hayat felsefesi çevrecilik kapsamında incelenmiştir.

Ahmet Bedevi, who played an important role in the reforestation process of the Manisa region, which lost all its foliage due to the fires after the War of Independence, adopted an unusual lifestyle and took the nickname Tarzan of Manisa. Tarzan of Manisa, who has become a legend among the people due to not wearing anything other than shorts, living in the mountains and his endless love for trees, recognized the importance of preserving nature at a very early time. Tarzan spent his life to reforest and protect the region he lived. He did this before the importance of protecting the nature became more apparent in world. This made Tarzan the first environmentalist in Turkey. In this research, the strange life of Tarzan was explained, and his philosophy of life was examined within the scope of environmentalism.
