Abstract

The infrared spectrum of the 2 band of the silylene, $SiH_{2}(x^{1}A_{1})$ was observed for the first time in the gas phase. The $SiH2$ was generated by the photolysis of phenylsilane with an ArF excimer laser. The absorption spectra were recorded by diode laser kinetic spectroscopy. The rotational and centrifugal distortion constants were determined accurately, in addition to the band origin, $998.6241(3) cm^{-1}$. Force field calculation was carried out to derive the Coriolis coupling constant between the $\nu_{1}$ and $\nu_{3}$ modes.
