Média et mélancolie: le tragique, le baroque et le grotesque

Abstract

Le tragique, le baroque et le grotesque sont des formes de l'imaginaire qui expriment la condition humaine: son ambivalence et intranquillité, son déséquilibre et vertige, l'énigme et le labyrinthe qui la constituent. Étant donne que la vie ne connaît plus de fondement sûr, de territoire connu et d'identité stable, ces formes de l'imaginaire expriment une vie qui ne connaît pas de répit. Le tragique, le baroque et le grotesque sont des figures opposées à l'idée de totalisation de l'existence, ce qui veut dire qu'il s'agit de figures contraires à l'idee de perfection et d'harmonie humaines. En tant que figures qui déclinent notre condition fragmentaire, marginale, mondaine et profane, elles exposent aussi le caractère visqueux, sinueux, vacillant et labyrinthique de cette condition.

The tragic, the baroque and the grotesque are forms of the imaginary that express the human condition: its ambivalence and disquiet, imbalance and vertigo, the enigma and the labyrinth. Given that the life knows no foundation course, familiar territory or stable identity, these forms of imaginary express a life that knows no despite. Tragic, baroque and grotesque figures are opposed to the idea of the existence of aggregation, which means that they are opposite to the idea of human perfection and harmony. As figure that declines a fragmentary, marginal and profane condition, they also expose the viscous, winding, faltering and labyrinthine character of our condition.
