A valorização turística do património cultural imaterial : o caso das Festas Nicolinas

Abstract

Com a evolução da sociedade, as motivações pessoais adjacentes ao lazer e às férias vão-se dispersando pelas mais variadas áreas. O turismo cultural tem vindo assumir um papel preponderante na escolha do destino turístico. A busca pelas emoções e novas experiências e o reencontro com a cultura e o sentido de pertença faz do turismo cultural um potencial turístico, um pouco por todo mundo. Indo ao encontro deste novo paradigma, o património imaterial torna-se determinante nas sociedades, na medida em que expressa a sua identidade e heterogeneidade, apelando ao acionar de medidas com vista à sua preservação e conservação bem como valorização turística no contexto da mercantilização da cultura nas sociedades pós-modernas. No panorama português, o turismo é encarado já de uma forma mais sólida, dando resultados principalmente em zonas, cujos recursos culturais e patrimoniais possuem um sentido identitário de um povo, de uma região e de um País, como é o caso de Guimarães. Assim, a questão que se coloca é se o papel das entidades públicas e associações Nicolinas envolvidas nas Festas Nicolinas contribui para a sua preservação e valorização turística. Através da realização de entrevistas bem como a construção das fichas etnográficas permitiu definir as Festas Nicolinas como objeto do estudo. O método de investigação escolhido auxiliou na resposta à questão de partida, permitindo verificar que todos os entrevistados contribuem para a preservação das Festas Nicolinas. A opinião dos entrevistados relativamente à potencial valorização turística das festas difere. De facto, enquanto, uns consideram que as festas, como elemento identitário, podem contextualizar-se no desenvolvimento do turismo cultural do concelho, outros entrevistados continuam a destacar a identidade das ditas festas mas, sendo dos e para os residentes (locais). As Festas Nicolinas possuem uma dinâmica local carecendo ainda de uma estratégia regional, aumentando valor ao destino Porto e Norte de Portugal.

With the society’s evolution, personal motivations concerning leisure and holidays follow different ways in varied areas. Cultural tourism has been assuming an important role concerning the touristic destination choice. The search for emotions and new experiences and the meeting with culture and its sense of belonging make cultural tourism a touristic potential throughout the world. Regarding this paradigm, the immaterial heritage becomes crucial in societies expressing their identity and heterogeneity, and also requiring the introduction of measures to preserve and conserve them alongside with the touristic valorization, with regards to issues concerning the culture mercantilization on postmodern societies On the Portuguese scene, tourism is seen in a more solid way, reporting results mainly in areas whose cultural and heritage resources own the sense of identity of a people, a region and a country, as is the case of Guimarães. Thus, the question that arises is whether the role of public identities and associations involved in the Nicolinas Festivities contributes for the touristic valorization. With the realization of the interviews and the construction of ethnographic records, was allowed describing the Events Nicolinas as an object of study. The research method chosen helped answer the question of departure, allowing us to check that there is a concern on the preservation of Nicolinas Festivities. The opinion of the respondents regarding the potential tourism development differs festivities. Indeed, while some believe that while the parties may contextualize identity element in the development of cultural tourism in the county, other respondents continue to highlight the identity of said parties but, being specially designed to local residents. The Nicolinas Festivities own a local dynamic and need a regional strategy in order to increase value to destinations such as Porto and the north of Portugal.
