The wealth of our playful heritage measures up to a great extent for the magnitude and the impact that the popular and traditional games have had in our society. In Spain, the practice of some of these more important games relates to the contributions of the pilgrims who realized the route up to Santiago de Compostela. Documented the profuse practice of traditional and popular games in the municipalities where it passes the Portuguese Way to its entry in Galicia, this study sought to identify and analyze traditional playful practices in the municipalities where takes place the last stretch of the Central Portuguese Way (from Porto to Valença do Minho) and their transfer to the school environment. We opt for a qualitative methodology, using the personal semi-structured interview as a tool for obtaining data. There was registered a low practice of traditional games in these municipalities, where Malha game is the most remarkable group of recreational practice exception, and where it was found that the practice of popular and traditional games in schools is scarce and, above all, sporadic. The playful Portuguese wealth should be taken into better consideration by the authorities, focusing the work of promotion and revival in schools, ideal locations for this type of playful-social projects
