O suporte, a linha e o fragmento na transformação da rede hidrográfica do Vale do Cávado: uma experiência na freguesia de Moure

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objectivo alterar a percepção com que olhamos para o sistema hidrográfico do Vale do Cávado, expor os elementos que o caracterizam e como estes influenciam o desenho do espaço urbano, desde a uma escala territorial à organização do espaço agrícola. O território é geralmente interpretado consoante as características e fisionomias do “construído”, relegando para um segundo plano todo um conjunto de sistemas que são parte essencial dos sistemas urbanos e do território. Contudo este trabalho parte de uma abordagem reversa, tem como mote o estudo do sistema hidrográfico e dele tanto podem fazer parte estruturas naturais ou pouco intervencionadas pelo homem, bem como estruturas construídas como tanques, aquedutos, poços, etc... Em suma, esta análise é debruçada sobre um sistema que se define pela simbiose entre uma dimensão natural e uma dimensão artificial. Este estudo pode ser dividido em três momentos. O primeiro momento - suporte - está concentrado numa análise territorial que tem como objectivo expor uma visão global do sistema hidrográfico do Vale do Cávado, bem como as mutações a que esta está sujeita, sejam elas de caráter natural ou artificial, e porventura o impacto que estas causam no desenho e disposição urbana, quer também na componente biofísica do território. Este momento tem como fundamento teórico a análise e interpretação das cartas militares e geológicas bem como nas fotografias de satélite. Posteriormente em um segundo momento - a linha - desenvolve-se uma metodologia de análise centrando a investigação no estudo da região de Vila Verde e mais especificamente da freguesia de Moure. Este momento tem como finalidade estabelecer uma forte aproximação à rede hidrográfica com o objectivo de revalorizar o seu papel enquanto motor de desenvolvimento econômico, social e urbano, confirmando agora a uma outra escala a tese avançada no primeiro momento deste trabalho. Por fim, o terceiro e último momento - fragmento - é fruto da metodologia adotada na fase anterior, uma vez que recorrendo uma análise in situ foi possível identificar no decorrer do sistema hidrográfico de Moure uma série de inquietações e problemáticas relacionadas com os mecanismos de exploração e manipulação da rede hídrica, podendo estas ser classificadas em duas categorias, as de caráter pontual e particular, ao qual serão sugeridas um conjunto de soluções possíveis para as mesmas. Nesse sentido, o estudo deste trabalho nesta fase final foca-se sobre uma problemática em particular, a análise é centrada em um fragmento de território, uma antiga quinta na região, denominada Quinta dos Moinhos, sendo que esta constituí uma espécie de território de ensaio na qual são trabalhadas e manipuladas diversas componentes e estruturas do sistema hidrográfico com o intuito de reativar a mesma, tanto a nível privado como no domínio publico.

This work aims to alter the way we perceive the hydrographic system of the Cávado Valley, to expose the elements which characterize it and the way they influence the design of the urban space, since a territorial scale to the disposition of the agricultural parceling. The territory is generally interpreted according to the characteristics and physiognomies of the “built”, leaving in a second plane a whole group of systems that are an essential part of the territory urban systems. However, this work starts from a reverse approach: it has its motto on the study of the hydrographic system and it can include natural structure parts or little interventioned by men, as well as constructed structures as tanks, aqueducts, wells, etc. Summing up, this analysis is focused on a system which define itself by the symbiosis between a natural dimension and an artificial dimension. This study can be divided in three moments. The first moment – support – is concentrated on a territorial analysis which aims to expose a global dimension of the Cávado Valley’s hydrographic system, as well as its mutations: either from natural or artificial character, and probably the impact they cause on the urban design and layout, as well as in the biophysical component of the territory. This moment is based on a theoretical analysis and fundamentation of the military and geological charts as well as satellite photographs. Posteriorly in a second moment – the line – a methodology of analysis is developed focusing in the study of region of Vila Verde and more specifically of the parish of Moure. This moment aims to establish a strong approach to the hydrographic network, trying to understand its role as motor of economics, social and urban development, confirming now, on another scale, the advanced thesis in the first moment of the present work. Finally, the third and last moment of this work – fragment – is the result of the methodology adopted on the previous phase, since an in situ analysis was able to identify a series of concerns and problems, during the course of the hydrographic system of Moure, related to the mechanisms of exploration and manipulation of the hydric network, and these can be classified in two categories: those of specific and particular character, to which a set of possible solutions will be suggested. In this sense, the final phase of study of this work focuses on a particular problematic. The analysis is centered on a specific fragment of territory: an old farm in the region denominated Quinta dos Moinhos and constituting a kind of rehearsal territory in which several components and structures of the hydrographic system are worked and manipulated, trying to reactivate it, both at private and public domain.
