Educação popular dos movimentos protestantes portugueses - na monarquia constitucional e na 1ª República

Abstract

A progressiva disseminação dos movimentos protestantes pelo território nacional origina que, por um lado, no espaço público se tornem visíveis as tensões que os opõem a outros protagonistas, e, por outro lado, num âmbito mais particular, ganhem consistência os princípios basilares de um modelo educação popular, materializado em diferentes organizações. A necessidade de formar cidadãos pressupõe que se criassem contextos de socialização e sociabilidade alternativos às realidades dissolventes envolventes das comunidades protestantes.

The progressive spread of Protestant movements throughout the national territory, on the one hand, in the public space the tensions that oppose them to other protagonists become visible, and, on the other hand, more particular scope, win the basic principles of a popular education model, embodied in different organizations. The need to train citizens presupposes to create contexts of socialization and alternative sociability to the surrounding dissolving realities of Protestant communities.
