Abstract
This presentation will explore security issues at a medium-sized university library (about 1.2 million items of all kinds and 6500 students) over a period of 30 years. Beginning with very little security, the Jernigan Library has developed a flexible security "team" that is linked electronically and performs set rounds and other duties according to a detailed plan. All security personnel are also cross-trained for other purposes, an essential element in an era of declining budgets.
