- Abstract
- The shape and the stability of geotextile encapsulated structures, geosynthetic tubes and containers under wave attack have been investigated. The stability depends on the wave height, the filling degree of the container, subsoil and on a sandy coast, scour is also an important factor. The difference in filling degree betwteen geotextile tubes and geotextile containders leads to different failure mechanism for these structures. Scour around these flexible elements appeared to be comparable to scour on non-flexible structures. Not taking into account the influence of scour results regularly to loss of stability of the toe of the structure and consequently to loss of stability of the complete structure.
